📘 Curriculum Overview

The MIT-AI Innovation & Competition Breadth Camp equips students with practical skills across the entire landscape of cutting-edge technology from the past 15 years—laying a broad and solid foundation for future success in STEM.

 

Dr. Meng’s signature AI STEM Acceleration curriculum includes two key tracks:

  • [Breath Camp I: App Programming & AI Camp] – Required for all new students

  • [Breath Camp II : Internet & IoT Smart AI] – Advanced track for students who’ve completed the first one

 

These courses are designed to help students start strong, master essential STEM + AI + App skills, and build a powerful foundation for innovation competitions!

  • 📌Breadth Camp I: App Programming & AI Camp

    🎓 Designed for Grades 7–11 | No Prior Experience Needed | AI + App Programming + Competition-Focused

    This course not only guides students to build real app projects from scratch—it also integrates hands-on AI training, boosting skills in coding logic, data structures, UI/UX design, and modular development. Students will create their own AI-powered apps and open the door to future tech innovation!

     

    💡 Course Highlights:

    🎯 Hands-On App Programming
    From variables, conditionals, loops to modular functions—students will systematically develop app-building skills alongside intuitive UI/UX design.

    🎯 Data Structures + Intermediate Algorithm Boost
    Learn core CS concepts such as lists, dictionaries, sorting, and random processes—perfect preparation for AP Computer Science and algorithm competitions.

    🎯 AI Integration & Application (Core Feature!)
    From Day 1, students will engage in real-world AI project development:

    • ChatGPT-based dialogue systems

    • DALL·E image generation

    • Speech synthesis

    • Image recognition
      They’ll use platforms like Google Teachable Machine and AWS DeepRacer to create interactive, AI-powered applications.

    🎯 Intro to Deep Learning + Project Development
    Covers 5 key AI models:

    • Multilayer Perceptrons

    • Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)

    • Transfer Learning

    • Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN/LSTM)

    • Embedding & Generative Models (e.g., DALL·E)

    Students will understand the 8 essential steps of AI development—from data collection to model training/testing—through real project workflows.

    🎯 Capstone Project (Parent Showcase + Competition Training + Real App Launch)
    Each student will complete a full innovation project to present and optionally submit to competitions or extend into future research.

    40 hours of live instruction (20 classes × 2 hours) + 40 hours of supported project work

  • 📌 Breadth Camp II : Internet & IoT Smart AI

    🎓 For Grades 7–11 | For Students Who Have Completed the [App Programming & AI Camp] | Smart Connectivity + Competition-Oriented Training

    This course builds advanced skills in Internet technology and IoT (Internet of Things), integrating App development and AI systems to equip students with powerful, future-ready tech abilities!

     

    💡 Course Highlights:

    🎯 Smart Internet Technology

    • Build full-featured smart applications using multimedia, sensors, GPS, interactive maps, auto-navigation, and more

    • Work with cloud-based databases to achieve real-time data interaction and visualized displays

    • Master critical network protocols like Web APIs and JSON for data communication

    🎯 Intelligent IoT Systems

    • Learn to use Raspberry Pi microprocessors, with skills in Linux command line, GPIO interfaces, and basic electronics

    • Create wireless control panels and data dashboards using Python scripts and MIT App Inventor

    • Explore communication protocols like Bluetooth, WiFi, and Node-Red

    • Complete real-world IoT challenges like password authentication, LED light control, sensor data reading, and servo motor operation

    🎯 Capstone Project – Smart Systems & Edge Computing
    Students will complete a fully functional innovation project combining intelligent connectivity and edge computing. The final project will be showcased to parents and may be submitted for competitions or extended into research.

  • 📌 Dr. Meng

    Dr. Meng is the Founder and Program Director of the Meng AI Innovation & Competition Bootcamp. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He is a Certified MIT Master Trainer in App Inventor, a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), and the founder of the Association of Student Young Innovators (ASYI).

    As an educator and innovation competition coach, Dr. Meng has guided students to win numerous prestigious national and international awards—empowering them to enter some of the world’s top universities.
